recent comments on all religions

Habib:  More often than not,  attacks like those mentioned in the article take place in regions where there is no or very little western presence. The attacks are against those who don’t accept a particular insular interpretation of the Quran.  The attacks are designed to frighten Iraqis into accepting such godlessness as being right and justified.
Habib: Tell me why there is such animosity toward a fellow human being – either one who reads the Quran differently, or others of differing faith.  What is the problem?
It is sad that people loose their lives over myth.  We know better than that.  They know better than that. No god deserves our attention who does not value mankind.  Such things are the very proof that all gods are the product of the human imagination.
No one serious believes that god or allah can be called upon to justify killing people. No god or allah deserves our respect or worship who has no respect for human life.   Such actions disprove all the gods.
It is not right or moral or godly to call upon a god to justify murdering fellowing human beings.  It is wrong. Period. Is this logic wrong in any way?  If my reasoning is wrong, show how it is wrong, and don’t quote to me from the Quran or the Bible or the Torah or even the Vedic literature (I’ve read them)- all were made by the creative ability of the human mind.  None has supremacy over the other. Each has some good points, but must be evaluated by one simple criteria – as a result of that faith, is there peace on earth and good will toward all.  Honestly! If not, then change it to make it better.
Some like to say that their faith is the last one ‘revealed’ to man, but then this too is not right.  Joseph Smith believed his ‘revelation’ was the last.  David Koresh believed his was the last, or most recent.  Jim Jones believed he was the only one to whom god spoke.  No! All of it is non-sense.  You know it as well, it is not rational, but most can’t see a way to get around all the tradition of family and culture that brought them to this point.  Fear is the biggest tool used by all religions to keep its followers in line.  Fear that to acknowledge the errors of ones faith in which one was raised you would be ostracized by your community.

religious non-sense —— again.

More religious stupidity…….in the name of god (or allah).. why is it so hard for many  to see just how insane all this really is? This doesn’t prove your god. It only shows your ignorance and lack of respect for humanity and life.  If mankind and life are not valued either today or in history in your beliefs, then it is wrong.  Period.  Change it.

globalization….growing our local economies

So your argument is that if we are serious about expanding trade and growing economically, not only as individual nation-states but globally, then we must focus our energy effort and resources toward those international agencies and initiatives that seek to strengthen trade, communication, education and personal contact on a global scale thus reducing the likelihood of nationalistic militarism. In other words, we should be working together to strengthen our common cultural connections through concerted global efforts by every means at our disposal to encourage broader more open trade, thus controlling the cyclic nature of isolationism/ nationalism.  If we want longterm economic growth and global and national financial stability, then encouraging the reduction of trends to increased militarization is most likely the best way to accomplish that objective.

Why do otherwise rational people seek the supernatural?

Honestly!  I don’t have an answer for that question.  It makes no sense that otherwise rational people would accept something as being fact when every element of those myths and religions comes from the minds of men.

Theist vs nontheist…..

February 26, 2010 Leave a comment

The following was borrowed from   http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=nontheist

A nontheist sees the God question as insoluble and irrelevant. Nontheists approach the God question from an empirical position, which has so far shown them that it has been impossible to either prove, or disprove the existence of God. A Nontheist considers the god hypothesis as dealing with matters that are unfalsifiable, therefore placing the question outside the realm of human knowledge. Nontheists see the question of debating God’s existence as irrelevant as debating the existence of leprechauns, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Invisible Pink Unicorn, Invisible Garage Dragons, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, etc.

Theist: God exists.
Nontheist: Prove it.
Theist: Well, just look around you. God created everything you see. See? That proves God!
Nontheist: I see…and how do you know that everything wasn’t created by an invisible purple Gnome named Wilbur who lives on the dark side of the moon, therefore proving Wilbur?

Theist: Because fill-in-the-blank-holy-book says that God did it!
Nontheist: Just how do you know your book’s claims are reliable though?
Theist: Because my book is self-authenicating, it says right here that it was written by God.
Nontheist: Using a book that claims self authentication commits the logical fallacy of circular reasoning. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Assertions that are unfalsifiable and immune from disproof aren’t worth much. How do you know your book wasn’t written by the Invisible Pink Unicorn?

The unnatural need for the supernatural – science and myth re-visited.

February 25, 2010 Leave a comment
Myth can only be explained through mysticism.  Religion is willful self-delusion by an otherwise intelligent people who for some reason feel a need for the supernatural in their lives.  The only place where modern science and religion (myth) meet is in history.
Never once throughout time has science adapted views and ideologies of religions.  However, every religion around the world today is desperately trying to incorporate science and the scientific method into their ‘theology’ by trying to show that they have ‘always’ had modern scientific theories embedded in their literature.
Of course the science is right, religions are just slow to catch on.  Since religions do not want to loose their converts, they will do anything to modify their ideologies to keep people interested and somewhat current.  Naturally, by doing this, worldwide proponents of continued myths (christian, muslim, vedic, pagan, jewish, etc.) are unwittingly validating all of science….here is who I am, “from the big bang I evolved so that now I am”.

Proving the man made nature of all religious writings…..essay to come.

February 23, 2010 Leave a comment

Well, this should be easy.  Man, men specifically, wrote all the religious books.   Enough said.   There is no way for anyone to disprove this obvious statement: men wrote the books.  The proof is the very fact that the books are here.  Since they are here, and we can read them, then men wrote them.

Where did the inspiration for these ‘writings’ come from?  The answer is that the inspiration for the ‘books’ came from the minds of men as molded and shaped by their environment and culture at that particular time in history.  This too is unquestionably obvious.  It’s the very same source as the writers of all works of literature down through time – the inventiveness of the human mind – as has been developed over time by the evolution of  mankind.

Why do some choose to ignore the ‘proof’ that all the writings of the worlds religions are really man made?  I’m sure that every person on earth has a rationale for their beliefs.  But the truth is, all those beliefs are societal in nature and mythically based and unfounded in science and reason.

More to come…..post your comments….

Thanks!  Tim Williamson

On the issue of beheading the historian Ramsay MacMullen notes that in 681 a council of bishops at Toledo called on civil authorities to seize and behead all those guilty of non-Christian practices of whatever sort.[1] These massacres were common on both sides throughout the Christianization of Europe, with similar events involving pagan Saxons, Germans and Celts and Christians documented in Britain and Ireland. http://bit.ly/9GywOl

But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child.” These days, that would earn God an indictment before the International Criminal Court.)  http://nyti.ms/bxV1j5
